What is anxiety

Anxiety is a natural human experience that can be helpful in certain situations. It can signal us to danger, motivate us to prepare for challenges, and heighten our focus. However, when anxiety becomes excessive, persistent, and interferes with daily life, it is problematic for us. This is the type of anxiety I help with. I help my clients to feel able to cope with anxiety, have a plethora of tools to manage anxiety and ultimately to reduce the impact that anxiety has and help them to feel calm, safe and in control

Experiences of Anxiety:

  • Excessive worry: This can be about anything from everyday tasks to major life events. The worry is often intrusive and difficult to control.

  • Physical symptoms: These can include racing heart, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, dizziness, muscle tension, and fatigue.

  • Negative thoughts: People with anxiety often have negative thought patterns, such as catastrophising, ruminating, and self-doubt.

  • Behavioral changes: Anxiety can lead to avoidance of certain situations, people, or activities that trigger anxiety. It can also lead to changes in sleep patterns, eating habits, and substance use.
